John is 35 and lives in his own home in Lanarkshire. He’s a pretty independent guy that loves going away with his support team in his car.
John really enjoys the freedom and independence our unique form of support gives him. He likes to enjoy some time in his own home by himself but have the knowledge that the SOL Connect team are only click away. Some of the reasons John uses SOL Connect are:
He has someone to chat to if he gets lonely and he can also speak with other friends on the hub
The SOL Connect team are able to switch his lights on and off for him. They can turn his radio and music on for him and we can also put films on for him.
John can call for the Responders if he needs them. If he has any worries about his safety then we are there to support him.
SOL Connect Hub
John uses his SOL Connect hub for social interaction, listening to music, playing games, watching films, clocking his staff in and out, requesting the responder for assistance during out of hours, keeping him safe and connected to 24 hour remote support whilst being independent and enjoying time on his own..

John has difficulty using the touch screen hub so we developed a way that John could access remote support through an easy to use large green button, as shown in his short film. The button can be attached to different things such as a bedside or a wheelchair for ease of use. The button allows you to make and answer calls.
If John needs assistance from the SOL Connect team in an emergency he can use his emergency ‘watch’. The watch can either be worn like a watch around your wrist or like a pendant around your neck. Pressing the button will put an emergency call through to SOL Connect.
If John would like his lights put on or off he can call the SOL Connect team and they can remotely turn them on or off for him.
John uses a variety of technology as well as remote support from the SOL Connect team. To ensure John makes the full use of his support package we have customised and developed pieces of technology to make it more accessible for him. The cost is:
