Ian’s Support Package

Ian has been using SOL Connect for the past year yet doesn’t have a hub or medication dispenser or any other cutting edge equipment that SOL Connect can provide. He uses SOL Connect in a way that suits him.

The Connect team call Ian a couple of times a day, when his SOL team aren’t in his home, to make sure that he’s safe, in the form of a welfare call, and just to have a friendly voice at the other end of the phone to talk to about his day.

Some of the benefits to Ian include:

    • Social inclusion rather than isolation
    • Just enough support to suit his needs
    • Keeping his sense of pride and independence

Welfare Calls
Ian receives scheduled welfare calls from the SOL Connect team throughout the day. There is no need for Ian to have any special technology in his home to enable this to happen, just a phone and a landline.

Responder Service
If Ian fails to answer one of his scheduled welfare calls then we dispatch a member of staff to ensure he is ok. Our staff are fully trained carers and are fully equipped in the event of something happening to Ian. If there was ever a serious emergency our Responder would liaise with the emergency services.

Ian’s support costs are split between his actual SOL Connect package and the cost for our Responder service. The costs are:

SOL Connect support package: £750 approximately

Responder service: £1,400 approximately

The costs are charged on a yearly basis.
